What the Golden Spirit Gacha Contains
Golden Spirit splits summoning into two connected jobs. Character Recruitment gives you the playable unit. Ability Recruitment gives the shards that unlock and level that unit's signature moves. Treat a character and its ability tree as one project when deciding where your Astrogems or summon items should go.
The game uses R, SR, and SSR unit rarities. Rarity tells you how often a result appears; it does not tell you whether a character fits your current formation, attack ranges, or Rush plan. The official store description presents Golden Spirit as a team RPG with Stand awakening, skill enhancement, gear forging, and ascension, so one high-rarity pull is only the start of account growth.
Rarities and Current Character Rates
The current documented Character Recruitment pool lists these base rates:
| Rarity | Base rate | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| SSR | 2% | The rarest unit result and the focus of the selectors |
| SR | 35% | A common mid-rarity result that can fill early team jobs |
| R | 63% | The most common result in the standard pool |
The permanent Character Recruitment pool is the cleanest baseline for a new account because its listed SSR roster remains available over time. The active banner page also shows limited and themed recruitments, which rotate. Read the pool, rate, and guarantee panel in the live client before spending because a banner name alone does not tell you what carries over to your long-term plan.
A closed-beta report recorded banner-specific terms, including a 2% SSR example and another banner with an SSR guarantee after 30 pulls. The current standard-pool guide lists a 60-recruitment guarantee. Treat the live banner panel as the current rule and keep beta examples in their original banner context.
Character Recruitment Versus Ability Recruitment
Character Recruitment and Ability Recruitment solve different parts of the same kit:
| Pool | You receive | Best use |
|---|---|---|
| Character Recruitment | The unit itself | Establish a core roster and work toward character selectors |
| Ability Recruitment | Ability shards for signature moves | Complete the kit of characters you already plan to build |
Ability Recruitment uses the same headline rates and 60-pull SSR guarantee documented for the standard character pool. It adds a wishlist, so set your preferred SSR abilities around the characters you actually pulled instead of wishing for a disconnected roster.
Pulling a character without its ability shards can leave part of the kit locked. Pulling ability shards without owning the matching unit gives you no immediate finished fighter. Keep the two pools in a deliberate order: choose the characters first, then tune the wishlist.
Pity and Selector Milestones
Character Recruitment has a random SSR guarantee every 60 recruitments. The counter resets whenever any SSR appears, including one that arrives before the guarantee. The same pool lists selectable SSR milestones at 180 and 300 total pulls, independent of the random guarantees.
Ability Recruitment has its own 60-pull SSR guarantee and a selector at 150 pulls. These counters are separate from Character Recruitment, so a pull in one pool does not advance the other pool's milestone.
Use the milestones as a spending plan:
- Read the current Character Recruitment pool and decide which roles or characters your team needs.
- Work toward the first 60-pull SSR guarantee before scattering currency across unrelated banners.
- Keep the 180 and 300 selectors in your plan and choose only after reviewing the roster you actually built.
- Set an Ability Recruitment wishlist for those characters, then work toward its 60-pull guarantee or 150-pull selector.
A Practical Spending Order
Start with a roster goal, not a banner thumbnail. For a new account, spend free currency on Character Recruitment when the pool contains units you would keep. A limited banner can be a good choice when its featured unit directly fits your planned team, but its rotation gives you less certainty than a permanent pool.
Once you have a core group, direct Ability Recruitment toward the same characters. This avoids the common trap of owning several SSR portraits while none has enough ability investment to perform its intended job.
Leave room for selectors. Pulling until a banner expires without tracking the next milestone can strand a partial counter. Record your current Character and Ability totals, then decide whether the next pull session reaches a guarantee or selector you value.
Do not spend every resource on duplicates before the roster has coverage. A duplicate becomes useful when it improves a character you already use, while a missing role can improve more battles than a small Star increase on the wrong unit.
Why Duplicates Still Matter
Duplicate character pulls convert into fragments or shards. Those materials raise a character's Star from 1 to 5 and improve attributes such as HP, attack, and defense. A duplicate is therefore progression toward a stronger copy, not an automatic dead pull.
Ability shards work in parallel on signature moves. The practical value of a duplicate depends on three questions:
- Is this character already part of your story or challenge formation?
- Will the extra Star improve a role your team uses often?
- Do you still need a missing damage, defense, or support role before investing deeper?
Answer those questions before chasing a second copy. A banner is only good value when its guarantee matches the roster you actually intend to build.
